About Durga Puja .

The Durga Puja festival is a ten-day event, though the last five days mark the main festivity.
The festival begins with Mahalaya, a day where Hindus offer tarpaṇa to their dead ancestors, as well the advent of Devi Durga. The next most significant day of Durga Puja celebrations is the sixth day, called Shashthi where we welcome the goddess and festivity begins. On the seventh day (Saptami), eighth (Ashtami) and ninth (Navami), the goddess along with Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesha, and Kartikeya are worshiped and these days mark the main Puja. This come to an end on the 10th day i.e. Bijaya or Vijaya Dashami.
